Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation?

I wrote to my congresswoman addressing an issue, and I attached a $20 campaign donation.

She said she would discuss the issue with her colleagues,

but she returned my $20 back to me because she says "I can't accept donations in conjunction with legislative work."

I thought they want you to donate to them?

I don't get it.Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation? You can send a donation and you can send letters urging a legislator to vote for or against legislation. But you can't do both together, otherwise it could be construed as an attempt to buy a specific vote.

Yes, interest groups donate to elected officials all the time. There's nothing wrong with that. But they wouldn't send a donation along with a letter saying, for example: "Here's $5,000. Please support my position on health care reform."Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation?
they only take from the biggies.that they know.did she adress the issue.when did she say she will be back to you.i would like to know.as for your question.as sure as the sun comes up each day.Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation? The big contributors get around it, by giving money at campaign time, and then shortly after elections saying "congratulations Mr./Mrs. ___. I was wondering if you could help me with ____ "Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation?
i believe you can only donate to a party when its an election year.Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation? If it was $20,000 it would have been a whole different story. Is it true that special interest groups donate to politicians in effort to bribe them topass their legislation?
Not in the manner that you did. There is no Quid Pro Quo allowed.
