I come home just about every day to find that my mailbox full of junk mail from finanicial institutions trying to get me to sign up for their credit card. Lots of other junk mail too, which sometimes makes it diffficult to identify my important pieces of mail.
Can't the government do something to prevent all these junk mailings? At a minimum, it would save a lot of trees.Should There Be Legislation To Prevent Mail Solicitation?I feel the same way. I would support this legislation. It's a waste of paper. Except for coupons for companies I actually go to (which I can get online anyways) I hate junk mail. And 95% of it goes straight to the recycling bin.Should There Be Legislation To Prevent Mail Solicitation?
That would be nice. I get sick to death of mail solicitation too.Should There Be Legislation To Prevent Mail Solicitation?I am against your proposal, seems like government meddling.
On the other hand, it seems very wasteful to be throwing that stuff right into the recycling bin (and having to shred all of the stuff that has personal finance info on it). What I find particularly ironic is how much of it comes from retailers that make themselves out it be environmentally conscience.Should There Be Legislation To Prevent Mail Solicitation?
Trees are a renewable natural resource, so there is no reason to "save a lot of trees."
Sending the "junk mail" creates jobs (private sector (printing, recycling)and government (to deliver the mail)), and otherwise stimulates the economy.
Just recycle the junk mail (since what then remains is probably bills anyway).Should There Be Legislation To Prevent Mail Solicitation?I get mail from local churches trying to save my soul. They send "prayers" (little folded up pieces of paper) in the envelopes and lots of pamphlets on how to get to their church. It's getting rather annoying. I'd be all for blocking them from sending mail to my home.
