Likely consequences for the EU labour market of stricter equal pay legislation?

Basically what would happen if there were stricter legislations to make men and women earn the same amount of money...Likely consequences for the EU labour market of stricter equal pay legislation?If this legislation leads to lowering of wages for some higher paid workers. Then this would probably lead to creation of more jobs. Because workers would become more affordable for many employers to hire.



But if it leads to increasing of wages for some lower paid workers. Then this probably would lead to higher unemployment. Because keeping workers on the payroll would become more expensive for employers. And employers would look for ways to cut costs in order to stay in business.
