If the Intent of "Deeming" Legislation is Passing it and it is Understood as Such, What's the Problem With it?

Isn't it the intent that counts? If the Intent of "Deeming" Legislation is Passing it and it is Understood as Such, What's the Problem With it?It is simply a combined vote of the amendments and the bill.

Since the bill has already passed both houses without the amendments, logic dictates that if each house agrees to the amendments, they agree to the bill.

It would not be necessary if the Republicans had not threatened to filibuster a bill that has essentially passed.

Who is really using procedure in a corrupt manner?

Y'all can piss and moan all you want, but you are wrong on every count, and are just further trashing your reputation for nothing.

The USA has health care reform.... deal with it and get used to it.If the Intent of "Deeming" Legislation is Passing it and it is Understood as Such, What's the Problem With it?
Actually, it's the Constitution that countsIf the Intent of "Deeming" Legislation is Passing it and it is Understood as Such, What's the Problem With it?Oh come on, it is obviously a tactic used to hide representational votes from the public.

Otherwise, why no stand up vote? If the bill is so great, why get it passed with a sneaky trick?

Because some representatives are worried what would happen to their cushy jobs if their constituents have full knowledge.

I am not defending republicans either. The existence of this sneaky little rule should outrage any voting citizen.

The problem is that bills are supposed to be passed by the House and the Senate before going to the President. The House wants to "deem" the Senate bill passed, and then vote on changes after the bill has been signed into law. This will allow the bill to become law when it should still be debated. It is essentially "cheating" to get the bill passed because they know they don't have enough votes to pass it by using regular procedure. If the Intent of "Deeming" Legislation is Passing it and it is Understood as Such, What's the Problem With it?I don't know maybe the fact that the senate passed the bill by bribing Louisiana and Nebraska, or the fact that over half of Americans (both D and R ) don't want it as it is written. Or maybe, if it was such a "Great Idea" then it should pass with no problem since the D hold the House they shouldn't need to resort to Deem and Pass. I mean really if it so good they could vote today and it would pass.If the Intent of "Deeming" Legislation is Passing it and it is Understood as Such, What's the Problem With it?
I think they should vote on it's pieces. Still the connies just want to make it sound underhanded and unprecedented.
There is no problem with it. It's Constitutional, and the Cons are just howling because they can't get their own way. When the she was on the other foot they were as happy as a pig in feces
