Why did the United States House of Representatives and senate support the bailout legislation but others didnt?

Because there a very few people in politics that are not in it for themselves. Having politicians fixing the economy is like calling a plumber to bake you a cake. They (Republicans and Democrats) have really screwed this up. Trying to manipulate the market is like trying to manipulate the weather.
