Has or is there any UK laws that prevent the Police from doing their job? If you know any please tell me about it (College assignment).Do you know any Government legislation that prevents policing, or stops the Police from doing their job?You could argue that the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Human Rights Act, Health and Safety Act and Regulations of Investigatory Powers Act are the main culprits. They have restricted what the police used to do.
HOWEVER (and it's a big however) they are designed to control police actions so that that they behave fairly. In a democratic society, the police have to be accountable for their actions and all the above are attempts to monitor that accountability. On the one hand, it would be great if the police could do whatever it took to deal with crime; on the other, living in a society where the police could do that would be pretty horrible (watch the film The Lives Of Others to see what I mean).Do you know any Government legislation that prevents policing, or stops the Police from doing their job?You mean apart from having to spend nearly 10 minutes filling out a form every time they stop someone?Do you know any Government legislation that prevents policing, or stops the Police from doing their job?The simple answer is the labour government!
They spout on about reducing paperwork and putting more officers on the streets, Ive yet to see any of it.
